Since spring 2024, Anthropic has tightened payment acceptance hard for users outside the US and EU: most non-supported-region cards decline at 3DS, virtual cards from popular non-US issuers stopped passing Stripe Radar, and existing accounts get deactivated within days of any suspicious billing signal. By April 2026, things haven't loosened — phone-number and shipping-address checks were added on top. This post is about what actually works in 2026 and why doing it through Claudexia takes 60 seconds.
Payment options at a glance
| Method | Works in 2026 | Time | Fee | Block risk |

| Local virtual card | No | — | — | 100% |
| Foreign-issued card | Yes | ~1 week to obtain | 0% | Low with VPN |
| Bitwage (BTC/USDT → Anthropic) | Yes | 1–3 days | 5–12% | Low |
| Telegram reseller account | Maybe | Minutes | 50–100% markup | High (shared) |
| Claude API via Claudexia | Yes | 60 seconds | SBP fee-free | None (own key) |
What does NOT work (verified in 2026)
Direct card payment from blocked regions. Visa, Mastercard, and local schemes from non-supported BINs decline at 3DS or right after. Stripe Radar treats most non-G7 BINs as red flags by default for Anthropic.
Virtual cards from local fintechs. Some passed sporadically through 2024-2025. By 2026, Stripe has fingerprinted most of these BIN ranges — declines are now the norm.
Foreign-issuer virtual cards via local services. They charge fine, but Anthropic also reads the payer's IP geolocation and disables accounts within 24-72 hours when the two signals don't match.
PayPal in blocked regions. PayPal stopped serving most affected countries between 2022 and 2024.
Apple Pay / Google Pay with a blocked card. Same checks, same result.
What works directly (with caveats)
A foreign bank card with a real foreign address. Works, but getting one from a blocked region is non-trivial: you need a residence permit or a trip to open the account in person. Realistic for people who already bank in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, the UAE, Serbia, or Turkey.
Crypto via third-party off-ramps. Anthropic doesn't accept crypto, but services like Bitwage convert BTC/USDT into USD on Anthropic's invoice. Fees of 5-12%, settlement in 1-3 days.
Resellers. Telegram channels selling Claude Pro at $35-50/mo and Claude Max at $250-350/mo with markup. Accounts are often shared (data leakage risk) or live 2-4 weeks before blocking.
What works through Claudexia (simple and legal)
Claudexia is a Claude-compatible API gateway hosted outside Anthropic's restricted billing zone. You pay Claudexia in whatever currency works for you — Claudexia pays Anthropic in USD. To you it looks like a balance top-up; to Anthropic it looks like a normal API call.
Local instant payments (SBP, FAST, PIX, UPI)
The fastest path. Scan a QR in the dashboard → confirm in your banking app → balance lands in 5-30 seconds. No fees, standard daily limits.
Local cards
Visa/Mastercard/local schemes from any bank in the supported region. 3DS standard, e-receipt by email. Instant settlement.
E-wallets
MTS Wallet, Yandex Pay, Webmoney equivalents in your region — supported through ЮKassa and Platega.
Crypto (USDT, BTC, ETH)
Through CryptoCloud and CryptoBot. TRC-20, ERC-20, BEP-20. 1-5 minutes for TRC-20, 10-15 for ETH.
Foreign virtual card
If you happen to have a Pyypl, PayDay, Wise card — it goes through Platega directly. But there's no point: SBP/local instant payments are faster and cheaper.
Cost comparison vs paying Anthropic directly
At a typical exchange rate, the math is:
- Claude Pro: Anthropic $20/mo. Via Claudexia API: $0 fixed, only metered usage. An active chat user spends $3-7/mo.
- Claude Max: Anthropic $200/mo. Via Claudexia API: $0 fixed. An active Claude Code developer spends $40-50/mo.
- 5-developer team on Max: Anthropic $1000/mo. Via Claudexia API: ~$250/mo total.
Pay-as-you-go beats the subscription for almost every workload short of the heaviest IDE users.
Security: where your money and data go
Claudexia doesn't store your prompts or responses — requests are forwarded to Anthropic in real time. Payment providers (ЮKassa, CryptoCloud, Platega) only see top-up data, not request content. TOTP 2FA, IP allowlists, per-key model and daily-spend caps — all in the dashboard.
